SmithCart supports the ability to apply Product Quantity Discounts. Product quantity discounts allow you to discount bulk purchases of products based on the total quantity of a Product in the cart.

Introduction

When Product Quantity Discounts are enabled, the discount will applied is based on the total quantity of a Product in the cart. The discount will be applied to the Order at the Product level.

Note: Product Quantity Discounts must be individually configured on each product.

The following steps are required to configure Product Quantity Discounts:

Step 1 – Enabling Product Discount

Enabling the Product Discount option turns on the discount. For more information, please see the Enabling Product Quantity Discounts section below.

Step 2 – Discounts By Quantity Setup

The Discounts By Quantity Setup screen allows you to set how a discount is applied based on the values specified in the Quantity From and Quantity fields. The discount will only apply when the total unit quantity of a Product added to the Cart is within the defined quantity range. Product Quantity Discounts Settings

The following settings are available to be configured for Product Quantity Discounts:

Display Label – Enter a label to be displayed to the user in the product quantity discounts grid on the product listing and product details pages. For example, you could enter 1-10 for a quantity range of 1 to 10. For quantity discounts over a quantity of 20 you could enter 20+.

Quantity From – The starting quantity range that you want to offer the discounted price on.

Quantity To – The ending quantity range that you want to offer the discounted price on.

Adjustment Type – Select the adjustment type. The following three Adjustment Types are supported:

  • Absolute Price - The absolute price to charge for the product quantity range entered. The absolute price will override the unit cost defined for the product. Enter price without the currency sign.
  • Price Adjustment - Enter a price adjustment to adjust the unit cost of the product. Price adjustments can be entered as positive or negative amounts. Enter price adjustment without the currency sign.
  • Percent Adjustment - Enter a percentage to adjust the unit cost of the product. Percent adjustments can be entered as positive or negatives. Enter the percent adjustment without the percent sign.

Discount – Enter the discount to the product price you want based on the quantity range defined.

Member Role – Choose a role from the dropdown list that you want to assign the quantity range to. When a user is logged in and they are a member of the DNN role that has been assigned the price will be adjusted as defined.

Please Note: To enable Product Quantity Discounts you will also need select the Enable Product Quantity Discounts on the Discounts/Member Pricing management screen from the Store Admin Menu.

Enabling Product Discount

In order to enable product quantity discounts in your store, the Enable Product Quantity Discounts option needs to be selected. Navigate to the Discounts/Member Pricing management screen from the Store Admin Menu and select the option titled Enable Product Quantity Discounts as depicted in the following screen shot:

Discounts By Quantity Setup

To access the Discounts By Quantity Setup management screen, select the Discounts By Quantity Setup submenu option under the Discounts menu item in the top navigation of the Product Setup screen as depicted in the following screenshot.

After selecting the Discounts By Quantity Setup submenu option, the following screen will be displayed:

To add a Quantity Discount, click the Add Quantity Discount button and the following screen will be displayed:

Enter the Discounts By Quantity then click the Save button to save.
